An industrial Sleeved Plug Valve (ISPV) is a plastic plug valve with an input pipe, a set of sleeves, and an output pipe. The sleeve on the input side reduces flow, while the sleeve on the output side restores flow. This type of valve is used in water and wastewater treatment plants, power plants, ships, and refineries. This type of valve has two parts: an “open” part that allows flow and a “closed” part that stops the flow. As water moves through the open part of the valve, it flows through a pair of tubes connected by sets of sleeves.
These sleeves are made from rubber or silicone rubber with small holes. When water flows through the tubes, it gets squeezed through these holes. This squeezes the water into smaller volumes and makes it easier to pass through the open part of the valve. Once the water reaches the closed part of the valve, it is blocked by a gate that opens only when a signal tells it to do so. The gate closes after water exits the gate. This way, ISPVs can control flow between two pipes or between one pipe and another device, such as a compressor or blower.
