Sight glasses are used to observe the interior of an industrial process from outside without coming into contact with the process substances. Double windows are used in many different industries, including food, pharmaceutical, and chemical. Double windows, consisting of two glass panes, are frequently employed in high-temperature applications, such as boiler plants. A borosilicate glass window is often used as the other window, while a soda lime glass window is more susceptible to impact. As it stands, double windows offer improved resistance to thermal shock, as they act as thermal barriers between the two panes of glass.
The pharmaceutical, and chemical industries use double window sight glasses to view the interior without entering it. Double windows are also used in boiler plants that offer thermal shock protection. The main window is made of borosilicate glass, which can withstand high temperatures, while the second is made of soda lime glass, which is more resistant to impact.
